In the south Murcia region Gea y Truyols, a 46 year-old Spaniard died after participating in a drinking contest Spanish media reported.
The incident happened after the participant downed seven litres of beer as the contest requested that as much of the beverage should be drunk in 20 minutes.
Hospital watchman, Joaquin G A ended up winning the competition with seven litres but started to vomit. He fainted and died on his way to hospital it is claimed. The village festivities of the event were called off and there has been a decree of three days mourning.
