THE campaign by Traffic police has been stepped up this week targeting drivers travelling with babies and toddlers to ensure they are correctly strapped in.
Today until Sunday March 17, officers will be checking for infants who have not been put into the correct safety seats.
They will also be checking for drivers and passengers of all ages not wearing seatbelts.
Last year, in just one week, police found 4,295 people travelling in cars that were not wearing seatbelts and 294 babies and small children that had not been placed in child seats.
Nearly 400,000 vehicles were checked at random last week and they are planning to check around the same number this week.
