SHOWERY: Rainy day in La Nucia
RAINFALL in La Nucia during 2012 was the lowest since 2004.
Last year was noticeably drier than 2011 with 36 per cent less rainfall, according to municipal records. The rainiest month was November although January 17 was wettest day of the year, with 44 litres per square metre.
January had an overall rainfall of 67 litres but things changed in February with just six litres per square metre, rising to 42 litres in March.
It was a dry spring, with 12 litres per square metre in Abril. There was nothing at all in May and a paltry one litre in June.
Summer saw zero rainfall in July, 12 litres in August and 14 in September. The autumn rains brought 38 litres in October and 115 in November. For the first time in 12 years, La Nucia had no recorded rainfall in December.
