Byblos to rise again

SET TO RE-OPEN: The Guadalpin Byblos hotel is set between two 18-hole golf courses.

A LUXURY hotel that hosted The Rolling Stones, Princess Diana, and Julio Iglesias could be brought back to life.

The Byblos Hotel in Mijas was shut two and a half years ago and has been left empty ever since.  It has also been targeted by thieves and has suffered several robberies.

But now its owner, tycoon and The Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar, has asked for the conditions to get a repair licence.

His company, Amshold, has contacted Mijas town hall in order to start the cleaning and reconditioning of the premises, according to town hall spokesman Mario Bravo.

“We want the hotel to restart its activities as a luxury resort as soon as possible,” Mario Bravo said.
