Parking problem eased

PARKING SOLUTION : Site of Altea’s next car-park

ALTEA is to have a new car-park on land ceded by the FGV railway.

A formal agreement has now been signed between the mayor, Miguel Ortiz, and Pablo Cotino, director general of the regional network.

The car-park will cover an area of 2,913 square metres on waste land behind Altea’s principal station.  The site, although not easily accessed at present, is already in unofficial use by those looking – often in desperation – for somewhere to park off the N332 main road.

The council has undertaken to carry out everything necessary to transform the site.

Work will be completed at the same time as the sea-front renovations and extensions that are due to start shortly.

The town hall will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the car-park “in perfect” condition according to the terms of the agreement.

The council has also agreed that FGV will not be charged taxes for the land during the five years that the agreement will last.  Four parking spaces will also be permanently reserved for railway staff.
