Call for beach improvements
HOTEL owners have asked for seven projects to improve tourism infrastructure to be funded by the local government.
This year €9.67 million, collected in hotel bed licensing fees, will be made available for works.
The Mallorca Hotel Federation (FEHM) wants beach renovations at Santa Ponça, the linking of Tora and Palmira beaches in Peguera, boulevard improvements at Magaluf, a car park for Platja de Palma, promenade improvements at Portocolom and Pollença and a bicycle lane for Cala d´Or.
The Department of Enhancement of Tourist Areas will decide which projects to fund after a 10 day submission period.
Also, as bicycle tourism grows in popularity, the hoteliers are becoming increasingly interested in the development of bicycle lanes, particularly in the northern part of the island.
