THE Ministry of Health has announced plans to charge €5 each way for non-emergency transport to and from hospital by ambulance.
People with chronic illnesses would have to pay, depending on their income, between €20 and €120 per year for transport to and from hospital.
These plans will be discussed with the representatives of the regional governments today (Thursday).
