GOING to bed just an hour earlier each night can help lower blood pressure.
Researchers found people who were showing early signs of high blood pressure were able to reduce it to healthy levels in just six weeks if they had an extra hour in bed.
Lack of sleep and a stressful lifestyle have long been associated with an increased risk of the condition, but this latest study by Harvard Medical School in Boston (USA) is one of the first to prove that blood pressure can be brought under control by simply increasing sleep.
