Culture cuts in Palma de Mallorca

Palma city council has slashed its subsidy of the Balearic Symphony Orchestra by €1m to just €400,000. However, some of the shortfall will be made up by the regional government, which has increased its aid by €417,000 to €2.3m. Other cultural bodies that have seen their municipal grants cutback are the Miró Foundation, the Robert Graves Foundation and the Es Baluard Museum.
