By Daphne Hilarides

A 35-YEAR-OLD man was injured during a shooting incident in Puerto Banus.

His assailant was arrested by the National Police a few hours later. The events occurred early in the morning after an argument between the two while driving through the streets of Puerto Banus. According to sources close to the investigation, the pair of Moroccan citizens were arguing over a woman. Once the car stopped, the alleged attacker got out of the car, took out a gun and shot his friend twice.

The first shot hit the car and the second penetrated his right side, exiting through his stomach. After being shot, he managed to get out of the car on his own and stopped traffic to ask for help. Bystanders called the emergency services. He is still under observation in hospital, although doctors say his injuries are minor and they do not fear for his life.

The 33-year-old alleged attacker managed to slip away, but he was arrested for attempted manslaughter just a few hours later in Torremolinos. His arrest was swift thanks to police co-ordination and the detailed description the victim gave of his assailant.
