NINE people were arrested for allegedly burgling businesses in Alicante, Murcia and Albacete.
The burglars would access the establishments by making a hole in the wall or ceiling.
They targeted at least 10 industrial warehouses, restaurants and gas stations and one private property.
Nearly €60,000 was stolen.
The criminal gang’s headquarters was reportedly based in Novelda.
The investigation, codenamed ‘Operation Naranja’ was lead by the Elche Judicial Police and the Alicante Guardia Civil.
The nine detainees are all Romanian and aged between 26 and 43.
They were arrested in the municipalities of Petrer and Novelda.
Some of them were arrested after allegedly being caught in their ‘get-away’ vehicle.
After which four properties were searched, one in Petrer and three in Novelda were various tools that could be used to carry out burgarlies, a GPS, a monitor, three DVD recorders, a printer, a sander, a drill and a vehicle were seized.
The investigation is still open and further arrests have not been ruled out.
