Councillor expelled in Vera PP drama

THE Conservative Partido Popular in Almeria has expelled the Vera Councillor for Culture and Social Affairs from the party.

Francisca Caparros, who was also Secretary General for the party in Vera, has also been removed from the local councillor for “failing to perform her duties”.

Her fellow party members and the rest of the council reportedly disapproved of her approach to politics.

The mayor, Jose Carmelo Jorge, confirmed that Caparros no longer represents the Partido Popular in any way, according to Spanish Press reports.

“Vera does not deserve the way the councillor has acted” the mayor said.

The first deputy mayor and PP President in Vera, Jose Fernandez, said they had taken a “brave decision” because the councillor’s attitude could no longer be tolerated, without going into details about this alleged behaviour.

The council now has seven Partido Popular councillors, six from the Partido Andalucista, two from the socialist party and another from the mixed group. Caparros has been asked to resign.
