BEST KEPT SECRET: Deia in the mountainous north is Mallorca’s bit of posh and home to Richard Branson’s five-star hotel ‘La Residencia’.

MALLORCA and Ibiza are two of 10 locations chosen as the place to go for those wanting to ‘rub shoulders’ with the ‘jet set’ crowd.

This list of where the rich and famous like to spend their holidays was created by travel web portal Easyviajar.

Each summer the Royal Family visit Palma de Mallorca.

Actors Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who have a mansion on the island, are also frequent visitors and often stay for a few months.

German model Claudia Schiffer also owns a Mallorcan property, a historic house in Camp de Mar where she celebrates her birthday every year on August 25 with her family.

Spanish celebrities that visit the island include Marta Sanchez and Ana Obregon.

In Ibiza one can hope to catch a glimpse of Spanish celebrities including Paz Vega, Ana Duato, Cayetana Guillen Cuervo, Aitana Sanchez-Gijon and Mar Flores.

Other European ‘it’ places include St Tropez in the south of France, visited by the likes of Madonna, George Clooney, Kate Moss and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Portofino and Port Cervo in Italy.

Bodrum, a port city in the southwestern Aegean region of Turkey is also on the list.

It is home to one of the seven wonders of the ancient World, The Mausoleum.

A number of Caribbean Islands are on the list including the French island of St Barts in the northeast, St Lucia in the southeast and the Brazilian island of Fernando de Noronha.

Another overseas location is Acapulco in Mexico.

They all have an impressive list of celebrities who like to holiday there.
