FOLLOWING a scorching week, temperatures are set to see a drop this weekend in the Costa del Sol.
The mercury will remain near the 30 C markin many parts of the province until Saturday and Sunday where highs could dip below 20 C, weathermen predict.
The 50:50 chance of rain predicted for Sunday may be a let down for sun seekers but will prove vital to replenish falling reservoir levels in the province.
The province’s reservoirs are at 78 per cent capacity, which although 23 per cent more than the average for this time of year, it is almost 20 per cent lower than this time last year, official figures show.
At the weekend the much lower levels of the Conde del Guadalhorce reservoir in Ardales were apparent.
Levels here are at 60 per cent capacity, whereas this time last year they were 94.3 per cent full.
Nevertheless, families could be seen swimming and enjoying the weekend sunshine by the shore of the reservoir.
