Help for pensioners in Carboneras

MORE pensioners in Carboneras are to receive the council’s monthly €12 allowance for rubbish-collection and water bills.

This financial support already existed, explained Felipe Cayuela, head of Finance and Economy Department.

As before there will be a €3 reduction on rubbish-collection and €9 off water bills.

Previously, however, the allowance was restricted to pensioners whose joint family income was less than €803 a month. The limit is now set at €950 a month.

The council decided to check that pensioners met the necessary conditions for the allowance and at the same time ask for their bank details.

The €12 will now be credited directly to pensioners’ bank accounts each month.

This will bring to an end the long queues that used to form town hall in the past as beneficiaries claimed the grant.

As well as being within the stipulated income bracket, pensioners need only be registered on the electoral roll – the padron – in order to receive the grant.
