Nerja Sewage plant project begins to take shape

THE construction of sewage plant will be put out for public tender this year.

The Mayor of Nerja, Jose Alberto Armijo, announced that the project will be decided and assigned this year, but that no money will need to be invested until 2013, when the work will actually start.

The project will have to be approved by the Ministry for the Environment as well as other departments.

The President of the Provincial Government, Elias Bendodo, supported him statements in response to doubts expressed by the Socialist party after it was revealed the project is not included in this year’s General State Budget.

The last meeting for the project is planned for September, and after that it will be assigned, giving the company three months to draw up plans and start work.

The sewage plant, which is due to be finished by 2015, in Nerja is the only one remaining on the Costa del Sol to be carried out.

It would be able to treat 25 cubic metres of water per day and will cost €47.8 million.
