Successful AAF charity auction attracts international crowd

AN auction at Restaurant El Cid in Benidoleig for the animal rescue centre Animal Aid Foundation (AAF), raised more than €1,400.

The event was busy and attracted an international crowd.

Led by the professional British auctioneer and his two assistants, visitors were encouraged to bid.

After slight hesitation, it did not take long before those interested became masterful bidders.

“It reminded me of school, how visitors put their hand up one by one, to obtain the objects they wanted,” said Annelies Jacobs, the President of the AAF who is originally from The Netherlands, who summarised the event as a “very enjoyable gathering.”

Visitors also enjoyed ‘Red Secret’, a mysterious dish they were encouraged to try out, and all jars were sold. This made the total proceeds of the charity auction €1,475.

“This great result was the reward for the AAF and the auctioneer who managed to complete the whole ’marathon auction’ of four hours,” added Annelies.

Annelies and daughter Naomi, visibly happy with the “very successful day, which we are keen to repeat,” are currently looking for items to be sold for the next AAF charity auction.

They are also on the lookout for second-hand objects and trinkets of good quality for local car boot sales (rastros).

Those who would like to visit the AAF in Beniarbeig can make an appointment on 666 225 123.
