Animal Aid Foundation Charity Auction in Benidoleig

An Animal Aid Foundation (AAF) charity auction will be held on Friday March 23 in Benidoleig, near Pedregeur, with the aim of raising funds for this long serving and very worthy cause.

It is hoped that those attending will have a unique opportunity to support local animals in need, experience the atmosphere of an auction, and perhaps find something special to take away with a successful bid, at a good price.

Everyone is welcome on the day, in the Benidoleig’s Restaurant El Cid, from 12:15pm say the organisers.

The proceeds of the event will go to the AAF, which has animal rescue centres in both Benifaio in Valencia, and Beniarbeig. This well-known organisation has itself been hit with hard times last year, following the death of one of the founding Custodians, Leen de Ruiter, in March. The Centre has been providing a refuge, and adoption opportunities for Spanish stray animals, and Leen was a crucial support for Annelies Jacobs, the Centre’s President.

The Dutch couple managed it for nearly 20 years, and Leen left behind a legacy which currently provides a safe refuge for 160 stray dogs and 4 horses.

“A wide range of items will be going under the hammer, and there will be something for everyone: furniture, jewellery, kitchen utensils, bric-a-brac, and decorative items,” said Annelies.

“In addition, every visitor can sample a culinary delicacy. Those who find it to their taste can buy it in a pot.

All food is hand-made, and made with organic products so it’s free of chemicals!” she added.

The proceeds from the sale of food will also go to the AAF.

AAF has recently opened its second adoption centre in Beniarbeig, where visitors are encouraged to meet animals without obligation to adopt.

“Our door will always be wide open for caring people, who are ready to let a faithful, four-footed ex-rescue animal into their lives and provide it with a loving home,” said Annelies.

If you can spare the time, go along and witness the dedication and love of the people who run the Centre, as well as having a fulfilling and fun time.

For further details call AAF on 666 225 123, about the event itself or any general queries. They’ll love to hear from you. You’ll feel good; it’s a very worthy cause.
