Showgroup Torrevieja donate €1,200 to charity

SHOWGROUP Torrevieja handed over more than a thousand euros to local charities this week.

This was courtesy of their production of ‘Paella and Chips’, which was performed recently at La Rustika Restaurant in Aguas Neuvas.

Last week Showgroup Treasurer Derek Clarken met with Chris from the Emaus shop in La Marina and handed over a cheque for €200 and on Wednesday evening, he took a break from rehearsals for the next show.

‘That Sinking Feeling’, to present Help At Home president Norah Bond with another cheque, for the not inconsiderable sum of €1,000 for their new and worthwhile cause.

Their next show is somewhat inspired by a combination of the Costa Concordia grounding and of course, 2012 being the 100 anniversary of the maiden voyage of the Titanic.

Entitled ‘That Sinking Feeling’, it takes place on the mythical ‘SS Doris’, set on board a cruise liner that is not all it’s cracked up to be; n fact it turns out to be the economy Irish airline version of Cruises.

It will be performed for two nights only, on the 15 and 16th May at La Rustkia. Tickets are priced at €9, which includes a supper meal, although, keeping within the theme, a ‘budget supper’ of course, plus a glass of wine, beer or soft drink.

Be assured that on most budget airlines you certainly won’t be able to buy a beverage and dinner for this price, never mind being entertained on route.

Don your lifejacket and take you chances ‘’riding along on the crest of a wave” as this is one ‘Sea Cruise’ you’ll remember, without ever having to get your feet wet!

For more information on the show or even to join the group, nip along to one of their rehearsals on Wednesday evening or Friday afternoon at La Rustika or call Jenny on 608 129 983 / 966 181 951.
