Couple fined for cleaning Collado river

A COUPLE in Cantabria may be fined more than €6,000 for cleaning part of a river which runs by their home.

The regional water department has brought proceedings against the couple who cleared the undergrowth, weeds and rubbish from the area of the Collado River in Camargo, because in previous years it had led to flooding and attracts rodents.

They had been asking for two years for it to be cleared.
