Rincon town hall to save on rubbish collection

RINCON DE LA VICTORIA Town Hall will save €50,000 per year by handing over local rubbish collection to the Provincial Government.

The Municipal Cleaning Service Company will no longer have to collect recyclable rubbish from yellow containers.

The local mayor, Francisco Salado, explained that this will allow the town hall to give the cleaning staff other tasks and collection of all other rubbish will occur more often and faster, with less noise.

“It is important to promote recycling” the mayor said, and also recalled that one of the priorities of his team is to improve all aspects of street cleaning.

The town hall has also cracked down on pet owners who leave their animals’ excrement in the street with fines of up to €300.

There will also be fines of up to €3,000 for very serious offences such as organizing an event without planning for the rubbish to be collected and the streets to be cleaned, and fines of up to €1,500 for offences such as failing to dispose of rubbish at the right time or in the right way, or damaging municipal goods.
