Torrevieja Hospital Promotes its SMS Service

The Hospital of Torrevieja has changed its text-line number and hopes to encourage more patients to make use of the four services available.

The Directorate of Torrevieja Hospital and Department of Health have confirmed the change of text messaging telephone number as 215013.

Through this service patients are able to make enquiries about admissions, request appointments, and receive information in relation to waiting times and current vaccination campaigns.

The service was developed by the department of health for Torrevieja with the dual purpose of improving service standards and the quality and accessibility of information available to patients living in the area; as well as easing the work load for Administrative staff and Practitioners.

To access information regarding waiting times in any of the Accident and Emergency Departments, the patient must simply “SMS” or text the word “URGENCIAS” and will immediately receive data showing the latest predicted times.

By sending the word “CITAS” to the same number, followed by their 7-digit SIP health reference number which is located on the front of the card, patients can find out any specialist appointments which they might have pending.

The word “HOSPITAL” followed by the patients SIP number will allow them to receive information regarding all of the latest screening and vaccination campaigns as well as current health promotion initiatives.

Finally, one of the services which are used most by patients and accessible via the 215013 number is that which allows them to enquire as to the present health status of a partner or family member admitted to the hospital through the emergency departments or for a surgical operation.

This is possible by simply sending the word “INFO” plus a 9-digit individual reference number which can be obtained at the time of admission. The campaign to promote increased use of these services is teamed with the slogan “La informacion al alcance de tu mano” or “The information is within reach” and the Directors of the Hospital hope that increased numbers of expats will begin to make use of it.

All of the above information is also available through the Hospital website www.torrevieja-salud.com
