Town Hall plans ‘pay-and-display’ areas in Velez-Malaga

VELEZ-MALAGA Town Hall is working on plans to create ‘pay-and-display’ areas in some of the town’s busiest streets.
Local businesses have been asking for this for some time and the town hall has estimated that during the first four months of next year, the system will be in place in some streets.
The local Mobility Councillor, Antonio Arrieta, said that Camino de Malaga, Canalejas and Paseo Nuevo would be some of the first areas to have paid parking. He also said that control of the parking spaces could be carried out by the Velez Malaga Disabled Association (Amivel).
“A town such as Velez Malaga needs parking to be regulated and limited to give everyone a chance to park and bring more trade to local businesses” he said. The Local Police will also look into loading and unloading areas in the town to see if there are enough or if more are needed.
Meetings will be held with local business associations to obtain their ideas on the plans for the controlled parking areas.
