VELEZ-MALAGA Town Hall has decided to crack down on people putting out their rubbish out of hours and not picking up their pets’ mess.
Despite campaigns over the past years, local residents seem to have decided not to pay much notice to keeping the town clean, so the town hall has ordered Local Police to be more vigilant and issue fines to those who fail to abide by the laws. Fines can range between €90 and €30,000.
Local laws establish that organic rubbish should be disposed of in containers after 9pm between April and October, and after 7pm the rest of the year. Seventy people have been fined already this year for failing to keep to the established times.
