Torrevieja launches interactive tourism management system

TORREVIEJA’S Department of Tourism has launched the first phase of an interactive planning system, which is a pioneer in tourism management in the Comunidad Valenciana.

In this first phase, the system will facilitate the process of capturing information about visitors to the tourist office to then provide and guide the planning and tourism management, in part based upon the statistics gathered. Project Planning and Management is an interactive tourist pioneering system that will be introduced at all tourist information offices in Valencia.

Torrevieja has been chosen for the pilot scheme and through the use of a Touch Tablet PC, Torrevieja will begin to incorporate all the data from tourists / visitors who visit the office. In turn, a computer analysis program will work in the background, looking at variables and continuously studying the patterns of local tourism demand. After its introduction in the first office, Valencia plans to extend the system to the entire network of city tourist offices.

The Interactive Project Planning and Tourism Management system that Torrevieja Tourism has developed, involves the incorporation of new technologies, focusing primarily on the comprehensive analysis of tourists / visitors to the city.

The same is managed by hardware (in this first phase with Tablet PC) that includes specific software that will perform four basic activities: input, storage, processing and output.

The first phase of Project Planning and Tourism Management has several phases, which can be summarized as follows:

Identification, selection and organization of data

Identification of relationships between variables

Design a data warehouse

Application of software management tools

Designing a communication interface

Selection of method of entry and exit data

Once again Torrevieja is proud to be a trend setter and pioneer in the Valencian Community, which in turn makes the city one of the most ground-breaking in Spain.
