A PROFESSOR at Almeria University has lodged a complaint regarding alleged corruption in the assignment of a chair at the university. The Arabic and Islamic Studies teacher, Jorge Lirola, has brought a complaint to the public prosecutor against the vice-chancellor, Pedro Molina, in which he suggests that civil servants at Almeria and other universities may have come to an agreement to illegally name a certain person to occupy the position.
He also accuses the former interim vice-chancellor, Jose Luis Martinez Vidal, and claims that the statutes which should rule the naming of the members of the committee who grant the chair were not followed.
He claims that one of the professors who is applying for the position has suggested who the members of the panel should be.
