MORE than 200 employees at Alhaurin de la Torre Penitentiary Centre have joined protests against the management of prisons in Spain. Union Comisiones Obreras reported that the staff were taking part in the protests against their work conditions and how the service is managed.

Protests started on Tuesday and will continue every morning until the Penitentiary Institutions stop opening prisons with insufficient staff, promise not to reduce salaries and resolve problems with professional categorization, unions said.
