BENIDORM – AGUSTIN Navarro, mayor of Benidorm was last week accused by the town’s Partido Popular spokesman, Antonio Perez, of having hired 34 new external consultants to work for the town hall since Sr Navarro changed allegiance to the PSOE party.
This was a quadrupling of the previous number, from the previous 11 to a current 43, said Sr Perez, who demanded that the increase be explained to the public by the mayor, at a time when Sr Perez said that the town hall should be “applying restraint and spending cuts”.
It is an example of wasteful cronyism, said Sr Perez, and has cost the taxpayer, with an alleged amount of €1,533,858 to fund the outside consultants.
