Taxi vouchers for Torrevieja residents with limited mobility

TORREVIEJA Town Hall has opened the application period of taxi vouchers or ‘bonotaxis’ for residents with limited mobility. People who are more than 33 per cent disabled, and do not have access to an adapted vehicle of their own, are eligible for a booklet of €2 vouchers which can be redeemed for taxi rides during 2011.

Those eligible can apply at the municipal offices until Friday March 18, according to Social Welfare Councillor Maria Dolores Canales and Transport Councillor Tomas Arenas.

The booklets will come in values of €150, €100, €40 and €25 depending on per capita income of the beneficiaries. Torrevieja has one of the largest fleet of adapted taxis, with 20 of the 86 adapted for people with disabilities.

The budget awarded for ‘bonotaxis’ this year was €8,000.
