EUGENIE BOUCHARD a 22-year-old tennis player from Canada who lost in the women’s finals at Wimbledon in 2014 and has recently appeared in Sports Illustrated almost wearing a swimsuit has been on a blind date with a fan.

Whilst watching the American Football Super Bowl she tweeted that as Atlanta Falcons were 21 to 0 ahead that they were going to win, but when 20-year-old student John Goehrke bet her a date through Twitter that they would lose, she accepted the wager.

As history now tells, New England Patriots reversed the whole match and actually won, so having publicly accepted the bet, she had no option other than to go out with the lucky young man.

She met John in New York and they went to see a basketball game together, apparently hitting it off as she admitted in an interview after the game that he was a perfect gentleman, giving her a gift beforehand which turned out to be a pair of earrings from Tiffany.

She has not ruled out the possibility of a second date.
