AN avalanche has swept two Spanish skiers to their death.

One died at the scene and the other in hospital.

The other skiers in the group three managed to extricate themselves from the snow and are reported unharmed.

The avalanche hit the French Pyrenees near the Aragnouet-Bielsa tunnel that links Spain to France.
