A HORRIFIC crash in Florida has claimed the lives of a group of young girls from Mallorca.

The holidaymakers died at the scene of smash in the States. Their driver also died according to sources at the Florida Highway Patrol.

The families of the girls have already been informed via the Spanish Embassy in the USA and the Balearic Islands government. They are travelling to the States to repatriate the bodies.

The fatal accident happened in the Islamorada area of Florida.

Florida Highway Patrol's Lt. Kathleen McKinney said the driver of the car and three passengers in the vehicle died.

It is reported, locally, that the girls’ Nissan Rogue 2018 car was struck by a truck carrying portable toilets forcing it into the path of a large motorhome travelling in the opposite direction and then into a tree.
