DENIA yacht harbour will once again have a public ramp for boat-owners.
The former ramp disappeared after the Paseo del Raset was remodelled and a replacement will be built beside the Yacht Club.
The €30,000 cost will be met by Varadero Port Denia, which runs the marina.
“This is further proof that cooperation between the public and private sectors increases employment and looks after public interests,” said Denia mayor Ana Kringe.
The ramp will contribute to a port that is “sustainable, adapted to modern needs and generates wealth,” the mayor added.
Kringe responded vigorously to Opposition doubts regarding the wisdom of enlarging the harbour area for large yachts. “Prejudices and narrow-mindedness are once again trying to undermine Denia’s economic growth,” Kringe declared.
In the year that Varadero Port Denia has run the mega-yacht moorings, the company contracted the services of 102 Denia firms as well as other local companie, the mayor said.
Varadero Port Denia has also created 50 direct jobs as well as indirect employment for more than 300 people, she pointed out.
