We have lost the music of life!

IN those long gone years it amused me to find every worker singing on each building site I visited.

Rarely together, this is Spain, far too anarchical for a choir but typically their own individual songs concerning their present moods.

Back then they all lived on marginal economic strains, barely making it. But that too was part of life so they confronted it with a song.

I appreciated and admired that greatly. These days, everyone has an opinion. Free-thinking people are standing tall and announcing publicly concerning all relevant matters and how to solve them on their terms.

Sounds good on paper. Yet, we are now living in an atmosphere of constant screaming, shouting, shoving and swearing.

“My way or the highway” is the mantra.

Everyone honking their own horn. Then the confrontations start in earnest. The noise explodes and the name calling worsens.

Too many one off, personal honks and blurts. Combined together with all the others no tune is created but rather a strange vicious cacophony.

I attribute all this to a lack of understanding. Too much talk on the airwaves, TVs and streets. Me say this. I cannot hear you. Too much noise. Me wink and smile.

But, the world continues as a noise; lacks harmony. It needs more music. Look, a single note played on its own and held really creates nothing. Just a long moan.

But, in combination with other notes, some loud, quick and others slow and pensive - songs can be created and the music of harmony can function.

It really is all about keeping united, on the same page. Not trying to distinguish or deify your own presumed prophetic thoughts.

Otherwise we get no harmony in song or life. Come on. Get off the pedestal and walk among the masses.

Go directly to the nearest pub and drink with anybody, even your friends.

In moments you will learn how much in common you have with others. Not differences.

The song of man, whether out of pitch or sung too high still connotes a harmony not to be denied.
