HORSE racing is a beloved sport, and the second largest spectator sport in Great Britain, and one of the longest established, with a rich and full history dating back many centuries.

It generates over £3.7 billion in revenue for the British economy, and many major horseracing events such as the Royal Ascot and the Cheltenham Festival are consistently important dates in the British and international sporting calendar. Many bookkeepers are always happy to roll out their doors to the public, offering a variety of bets and odds to suit lots of different people. William Hill is a prominent and well-respected bookie, and offers a wide variety of bets for the public to place money on.

There are two main forms of horse racing in Great Britain. These are flat racing, which is a race run over distances between 5 furlongs and 2 mile courses without obstacles. The second type of racing here in the UK is known as National Hunt racing, which are races run over distances between 2 miles and 4  and a half miles, where horses usually jump over either hurdles or fences ( these are races known as steeplechases). There is also a category of National Hunt races known as “National Hunt flat races”, which are run under National Hunt rules, but there are no obstacles to be jumped.

There are of course different types of bets to suit different styles of betters. The basic single bet is where a person bets on one individual selection in one bet, with the premise being that your selection of horse and rider is correct, thus ensuring a win.  A Lucky 15 bet is one that consists of 15 bets involving 4 selections in varying different events. The bet requires you to make 4 single bets, 6 double bets, 4 treble bets, and 1 four-fold bet. If only one of your selections win, returns are paid as consolation to treble the current odds. If all four of your selections win, a bonus of 20% is then added to your total returns. For your bonus to apply, all of your selections must win (this does not apply to void or non-runners).But it’s worth noting that if only one of your selections wins, you will receive treble the odds. For your each-way bets the consolation is paid only on the win part of the bet. Lucky 15 bets are accepted on horse racing, with the potential for large amounts of money to be made with the right combination of odds.

As mentioned earlier, the Royal Ascot and Cheltenham Festival are some of the biggest horse racing events on an international scale. The Royal Ascot is a racecourse located in Berkshire, and is the prime site for thoroughbred horse racing. The Cheltenham Festival is held in the titular location of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. Both events are extremely popular and attract thousands of spectators, many of whom will place bets as part of the process for either fun or a serious venture. Consequently, many bookkeepers will provide a variety of odds for all the races for people to bet on. Plus, you can bet on the biggest UK horse races only at www.williamhill.com.

Bets are also offered in anticipation of upcoming races, with William Hill offering 1/4 odds on Alitor winning the Arkle Challenge Trophy on the 14th of March. The highly successful bookkeepers are also offering 7/2 odds on Yorkhill to win, and War Singer having slightly less favourable odds at 100/1. As well as this, special promotions are offered to new customers as incentives for playing, as well as regular podcasts from experts offering tips and strategies for successful betting.

Overall, the time to join the horse racing community and betting has never been better, with a variety of play styles and betting opportunities for all to enjoy, even if you’re just a casual observer with friends or a seasoned better looking for the next big bet. The odds are simple to learn with time and practise, and you’ll soon be one of the many happy betters at these events.
