CHOOSING a cosmetic surgeon for any procedure is a personal thing. You need to find a surgeon who is not only excellent at their craft but one that you can trust and feel comfortable with.

It is important to find a surgeon that you can really talk to, as before you decide whether to go ahead with a procedure you should fully understand what type of results can realistically be achieved, and understand what the procedure entails, how the recovery period will be handled, and what risks are involved.

Medcare Aesthetics, situated in both Benijofar and Alfaz del Pi, recommends that everyone should have a free consultation with a potential surgeon prior to making any decision.

Medcare’s Dr Hussain said: “No pressure should ever be applied when someone is considering something as serious as cosmetic surgery. If a surgeon charges a consultation fee there is already pressure not to waste money by deciding not to go ahead.

“We insist all potential patients meet with the surgeon who would be doing their procedure for a free consultation, so they can fully discuss what is involved, ask any questions and get a good feel if this is the surgeon for them.”

Among Medcare’s team is a female cosmetic surgeon, which Medcare finds often helps female patients in particular to open up and really talk about what they need, and the results they are hoping to achieve.

Dr Teresa Bernabeu Abad is a very experienced doctor with more than 20 years of experience in cosmetic surgery. As well as consulting at Medcare, she is a consultant plastic surgeon at Medimar Hospital in Alicante.

Her experience in cosmetic surgery includes teaching facial rejuvenation at Complutense University of Madrid, working as a professor of plastic surgery at Alicante University, and working as a consultant plastic surgeon in the burns unit of Alicante Hospital. She also has experience in head and neck reconstruction, micro-surgery and correcting congenital malformations.

Dr Bernabeu has hundreds of happy patients, and prospective patients can look at photos of her work and speak to them.

All cosmetic surgery through Medcare takes place in a top private hospital in Alicante, so patients can rest assured all the correct medical facilities and staff are in place, to ensure the procedure is performed safely.

Medcare provides a unique after care service, with both the surgeon and Medcare’s British GP available to make sure the best care is given. Medcare also offers many non-surgical cosmetic procedures and is therefore able to recommend these if it is thought they better fit a patient’s needs.
