La Roca Restaurant - An authentic Caribbean grill

The Roca Restaurant is a family run, friendly, colourful, cosy and welcoming restaurant specialising in Caribbean cuisine. Owned and operated by Micha and Farad, they have been working for more than 25 years in the international restaurant business, a combination of over 50 years in the industry.
Their journey so far has taken them from a tiny Caribbean island of Aruba that lies close to Venezuela, to their current idyllic spot on the beachfront in Albir, Alicante.
At the age of 24, after completing his degree in catering and food service in Holland, Micha left with nothing but a backpack and a sense of adventure to discover the world. “You have to follow your dreams,” says Micha.
He headed for Aruba, which is where he met his wife, Farad, who is originally from Venezuela and had also moved to the island after spending a period of time working in the hospitality industry in New York. The couple spent 12 years on the island and after starting a family together decided to return to Europe, firstly to Holland but soon after made the move to the stunning, idyllic spot on the beach in Albir, to recreate a typical Caribbean style restaurant. “We create quality food with flavour, and provide a quality service with love,” says Micha.
The restaurant is colourful, as you would expect from a Caribbean establishment, complementing their Mediterranean setting, and their menu is a selection of the couple’s favourite dishes that they have experienced while travelling around the world.
“The giant shrimps in Caribbean garlic butter sauce is one of the most popular starters we have and the Jamaican spare ribs are simply delicious.
The ribs prepared by the restaurant won the ‘Best Ribs in Aruba’ award. The restaurant is simply a haven for meat lovers! They can also prepare gluten free ad lactose free menus.
They offer a special lunch menu and an evening Caribbean menu for €21.50 which includes three courses and half a bottle of Rioja wine. The food is home cooked for quality, and we have been here for eight years with 80 per cent of our customers being regulars. People come to enjoy the evening, for great food in good company.”
The restaurant, situated overlooking the Mediterranean sea has an outside terrace as well and is open Mondays and Tuesdays 5.00pm-10.00pm and Thursday to Sunday 2.00pm- 10.00pm.
Micha and Farad look forward to welcoming you.
