IF you have ever imagined what Paradise is like, then La Barraca Restaurant at La Herradura would most likely be a vision that fits the dream.

This hidden treasure is set deep in the heart of the Parque Natural de los Ancantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo on the picturesque beach of Playa de Cantarrijan.

It is a family-run business which was established over 25 years ago when Joaquin Barbero opened the first chiringuito on the coastline; Joaquin himself had half a century of experience in the restaurant business.

Now La Barraca maintains its traditional charm and beauty and is now run by Joaquin’s grandson, Isaac Rodrigues, the proprietor. With the breathtaking surroundings of this tropical coastline, La Barraca offers a taste of Paradise to all who visit. The menu is rich in seafood options and there are many more gastronomic delights including Isaac’s Angus Beef Tenderloin, Red Tuna, and Eggs with natural black truffles.

Although traditional, the cuisine at La Barraca is exciting and innovative, which is why many are eager to return. You can also enjoy variations of paella, calamares, lasagne and octopus. The dessert menu offers some of the most dreamy and creamy temptations. It is also excellent value for money with dishes from only €7.

The wine list is something that La Barraca is proud to offer as there is a choice of winesfrom Spain’s best DOC (Denominations of Origin).

This idyllic venue is an ideal location for special functions as it is open all year round. It is a perfect backdrop for a dream wedding, and as the terrace looks out to the Mediterranean, it is magical both by day and night. During the winter months, La Barraca has an added attraction of a central log burning fireplace, so you can still enjoy the spectacular views in comfort in the cooler months.

It is a must-visit tropical paradise. To find La Barraca you must take a winding road from the old N30 coast road at the signpost for La Herradura Costa Tropical.
