Taj Mahal: A decade of satisfied customers

By Tuesday, 30 September 2014 16:59 0

THE Taj Mahal in Benijofar is celebrating Diwali on October 26. It is one of the most popular and enjoyable nights in Taj Mahal’s calendar as the restaurant is full of people celebrating the festival of lights. The party starts at 7pm and tickets cost €19 per person.

Open for more than a decade, Taj Mahal customers return time and time again as they continue to praise its food and service. Owner Dilbag Singh ran several restaurants in Germany before moving to Spain in 2004 and setting up his Indian Tandoori Special Restaurant. He prides himself on the service and atmosphere offered in the spacious restaurant, which has gloriously high ceilings and views over towards the fields, with a spacious terrace ideal for alfresco dining.

Whilst it is a pleasure to dine out in the surroundings of the Taj Mahal, food is of course at its heart. “Our food is superior,” said Dilbag: “We freshly make all our curries with authentic spices from India. We can also make any dish to our customers’ preference whether they want it mild, medium or hot.” Tandoori dishes, cooked in a loam oven and served on a hot sizzler are a speciality but there is something for everyone from salads and samosas to biryani and baltis.

Diners can choose anything from a mild korma to a hot vindaloo and there is a choice of speciality rices, noodles and breads to accompany your meal. Platters and set menus are also available for two, four or six people.

Taj Mahal is open every lunchtime from 12-4pm and this is the perfect time to sample their cuisine at highly affordable prices with their three-course menu del dia costing €8.95 including a drink. A menu de la noche is available for €9.95 from 6pm.

In addition, there is a full takeaway service and with every order over €20 you receive a free bottle of wine.
