Expert dental care for more than 16 years in Alfaz del Pi

By Friday, 12 September 2014 16:42 0

DR CHRIS JONES has been caring for the teeth of residents and holidaymakers in Alfaz del Pi for more than 16 years.

Established in the same street for the entire time, the dedicated dentist has built up a strong reputation for offering honest, quality care and treatment at reasonable prices.

Having trained in Sheffield he moved to Spain and set up his own clinic where he offers every service, except for orthodontics, where another specialist is available.

Having worked in both the UK and now in Spain for a considerable time he has recognised the differences and tries to bring the British ethos to his Spanish and international clients, combined with local Spanish prices: “Dentistry is quite new to the country.

Since 1991 you can train just as a dentist, before that you had to first become a doctor and then study dentistry so there weren’t too many around.” As a result, people were not used to regular visits and checkups and it was a new, and often intimidating thing for children.

Dr Chris said: “Many are not geared up for children or dealing with tricky patients so we try and get youngsters in from a very early age and do free check-ups for young children just to get them used to it.” He is also very honest with his advice: “In Spain it is not practice for children to receive gas when having treatment, although I can arrange for that to be done in hospital, but in many cases, especially for expat children, I do recommend they go back to the UK if they can and have the treatment there.” Whilst the industry is relatively new, Spain also offers some of the latest innovation and treatment and Dr Chris has continually trained and updated his skills in Spain with his clinic walls adorned with certificates in everything from bridges, implants and root canals to surgery, aesthetics and cancer diagnosis.

He is also fully qualified in botox but adhering to Spanish legislation which states only doctors can perform it, he does not offer the treatment.

In the surgery he offers check-ups for just €15 and a set of X-rays done on site is €25.

Many people have also turned to Dr Chris for a second opinion when not happy with other treatment they have had elsewhere: “I had one woman who was told she needed implants on her top teeth costing thousands but she didn’t.

I did a good deep clean costing around €150 and she was happy.” So for professional and honest advice and treatment visit Clinica Dental now.

Emergency appointments are always available.
