We didn’t have an iPad. How did we cope?

THURSDAY afternoons at the Euro Weekly News headquarters are a little different to the rest of the week. Our six papers are out on the streets, and although we’re already hard at work on next week’s issue, there’s a chink of breathing space and that’s usually when hard-working writers and designers – and of course your humble webmasters – have time to share a few giggles.

As this week we’ve learned we’re saying goodbye to one of our office babies, 22-year-old Georgia who takes care of all the material for advertising, but will soon be heading off to become flight crew with Emirates Airlines, some (slightly) more aged newspaper hacks have been rolling in the aisles to this video. And we thought we’d share it with you.

When Cilla sadly passed away, did you have to explain to younger colleagues what Blind Date was, and how, no, it wasn’t remotely like Paddy McGuinness’s Take Me Out?

If you mentioned the King’s anniversary on August 16, would they think you meant Felipe or assume you had just promoted Prince William, rather than toasting the genius of Elvis?

Do you work with infuriatingly energetic young people who have never seen Knight Rider or Swap Shop (it was like ebay, only for children and with Noel Edmonds) and can’t even begin to comprehend Teletext or Filofaxes? Yes, young people, we used to write phone numbers down! In a book!

If so, this vid is for you. We didn’t have an iPad. And yet somehow, we survived.

Given the short notice that many passengers received over flight cancellations, do you think Ryanair handled the situation professionally?
