AN IRISH COURT has heard how a chef was allegedly “caught red-handed” with €700,000 worth of heroin at Dublin Airport after he flew in from Malaga.

Forty-year-old Alan Maginn, from, County Armagh, Northern Ireland who has been living in Malaga with his family was denied bail after the judge decided that he was serious flight risk. 

The father-four is charged with possessing heroin for the purpose of sale or supply.

Garda Detective Chris Elliot told Cloverhill District Court that Maginn was caught ‘red-handed’ in an airport car park with a controlled drug worth €700,000.

He said the accused arrived on a flight from Malaga and was due to make a return trip four hours later.

The detective told the court the man had an “extensive flight history this year between Dublin and Malaga”.

The judge remanded Maginn in custody to appear again on a date in September.
