Tourist tax fury on Costa Blanca

OWNERS of a number of businesses throughout the Vega Baja have condemned the proposal of implementing a form of ‘tourist tax.’

Members of the Hotels and Tourist Association in the area have come out against the imposition of such a tax, stating that it would significantly reduce the spending capacity of the many thousands of tourists that visit the Vega Baja throughout the year.

They say that there is no support whatsoever among those working in the tourism sector and that its purpose is not at all clear.

It’s also considered that it would encourage more illegal and unregulated holiday rentals.
