WEATHER ALERT: Spain’s Costa Blanca braced for heavy rain and thunderstorms

WEATHER ALERTS: Wednesday 9 August until noon Thursday 10 August WEATHER ALERTS: Wednesday 9 August until noon Thursday 10 August AEMET

THE Spanish national meteorological service AEMET has issued yellow and orange severe weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms on Spain’s east coast.

The warnings apply from midday Wednesday 9 August until noon Thursday 10 August with weather conditions improving on Friday.

Up to 50mm of rain per hour could fall in Alicante accompanied by thunderstorms.

For many it will be a relief from the unbearably hot temperatures experienced so far this summer.

The remainder of the country will continue to bask in sunshine although temperatures may decrease slightly.
