Alicante film studios face second auction

A LAST-minute bid on the Ciudad de la Luz film studios in Alicante has been rejected and the complex now faces a second auction.
As previously reported in The Euro Weekly News the centre had not received any bids, either for the complex as a whole, or for individual lots, but it has now been revealed a single, last-minute bid came through presented by Adventure Entertainment, an American company headed by Donald Bredberg with a French partner, Bruno Granja.
Their documents were signed in the French town of Cugnaux before being presented in the official way to the Generalitat regional government. It is understood the businessman had tried previously, without success, to open a studio in Toulouse, France, and now it seems a bid to own the Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante, has also failed as the Generalitat announced the offer did not meet “the minimum requirements.”
The film studios had a minimum base bid of €94.4 million. Officials said the document was little more than a “declaration of interest” for the whole centre as well as lots seven and eight referring to the training centre and office building, “to ensure optimal operation of the complex,” however no actual bid was made with the document stating it was “impossible to formulate a serious offer today.”
Now, a second auction will be opened within two weeks as the government continues negotiations with Brussels who have forced its sale to pay off debts.
