Italian mafia member on the run arrested in Marbella

CARLO LEONE, believed by police to be a key member of Naples Elia clan, has been arrested in Marbella.

The 55-year-old suspected ‘narco-broker’ (a type of intermediary between drug dealers and customers) had been wanted by Italian authorities since 2009 to serve a pending jail sentence.

Police investigators discovered the Italian man was hiding out on the Costa del Sol and set up surveillance on establishments he was believed to visit regularly, mostly in San Pedro.

Plain clothes policemen finally spotted him entering a pub and grabbed him as he left, giving him no time to fight back.

Leone, who had a European arrest order, now awaits extradition.
