ELDORADO hasn’t graced the screens of the BBC for about 25 years, but new footage has revealed just what the set of the soap in Spain looks like today.

Launched in 1992, the show ran for 156 episodes with a whopping £10 million spent on it and stars such as Patricia Brake and Jesse Birdsall appearing.

Some of that money would have been spent on the purpose-built set for the fictional town of Los Barcos in the hills of Marbella on Costa del Sol.

Polly Perkins, who played Trish Valentine in the soap, toured the set with the BBC’s David Sillito and revealed her thoughts on its current state: “It could do with a lick of paint, this place. If I’d have been here, it would’ve been done by now. It’s been let go to rack and ruin - I think it’s a terrible shame, what a waste.

“It’s not like its just scenery - these are real homes.” Eldorado burst onto screens hoping to shock with the storyline of middle-aged Bunny (played by Roger Walker) coming back to Los Barcos from the UK with his 17-year-old bride Fizz (Kathy Pitkin).

Fans campaigned for its return in 2013 to no success, with a reboot about as likely as the UK seeing a last-minute return to summer.
