According to Conservative Home, the Tory publication, the exodus continues with a fifth aide quitting Number 10 Downing Street or as the opposition are now referring to it – Drowning Street.
The latest is Number Ten Policy Unit member Elena Narozanski amid the continuing fallout from the PartyGate allegations. The reasons for her departure have not yet been made public.
Previous departures include Dan Rosenfield, the prime minister’s Chief of Staff, Martin Reynolds, Mr Johnson’s Principal Private Secretary, Press Chief Jack Doyle and Policy Chief Munira Mirza.
The majority of those leaving have been implicated in the scandal however the resignation of Ms Mizra is different with her being critical of Boris Johsons failure to apologise for the Jimmy Saville jib at the opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer.
Energy Minister Greg Hands who was speaking to Sky News before Ms Narozanski’s resignation was revealed, claimed the departures were evidence of the PM “taking charge”.
With police investigations still ongoing and the recriminations continuing, it is likely that the exodus from Number 10 will continue with more likely to announce their departure in the coming hours and days.
