The government of Asturias has informed that the COVID passport will no longer be required and bars and restaurants will be allowed to reopen, with certain limitations, from next week. On January 20, the Department of Health of Asturias announced that the extraordinary measures approved on December 24 to stop the spread of coronavirus will be lifted on Thursday, January 27, as the period set for such measures comes to an end. This means that it will not be necessary to request an extension for the COVID passport, as it will no longer be required for entry to establishments, explained the Asturian government. However, bars and clubs will need to meet certain requirements. Consuming at the bar will not be permitted, groups of customers who do not live together will need to maintain a safety distance of 1.5 metres at all times, masks must be worn on the dance floor and there will be a distance of 4 metres between musicians and the audience. Restaurants will need to close at the legally authorised time of 1:00 a.m. and may open from 6:00 a.m. Alcoholic beverages may once again be sold at petrol stations and shops, after their sale was banned between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Officials from the Department of Health will meet with representatives from the nightlife sector on Friday to inform them of the decision. ________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for taking the time to read this article, do remember to come back and check The Euro Weekly News website for all your up-to-date local and international news stories and remember, you can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
