José Alberto Armijo, the Mayor of Nerja, has announced the approval of more than 325,000 euros for the construction of the first section of the bike lane between Nerja and Maro.
Announcing that the council had agreed the works, Armijo said: “It will run between the access roundabout to Burriana beach, on Avenida de Pescia, to the roundabout of the Oasis de Capistrano urbanization. It will be built to the north of the highway and will have a length of 900 meters.”
Continuing he said “with which we are going to provide the municipality with a new infrastructure, responding to the needs of our neighbours and visitors, and with which we will reinforce the security of cyclists and pedestrians, promoting transport without emissions to the environment and sport.”
The works, which are part of the Sustainable and Integrated Development Strategy, will take eight months and be undertaken by Actüa Infraestructuras SL. Twenty percent of the funding is being provided by the Nerja City Council with the balance coming from the European Regional Development Fund ERDF.
